Finland buys L-3 helicopter sensors

L-3 has been awarded a contract to supply sensors for Finnish Border Guard helicopters.

L-3's MX-15 electro-optical and infrared imaging systems will be mounted on Airbus H215 helicopters, according to an L-3 news release.

Besides thermal and low-light imagers, the Finnish MX-15s will include an auto-tracker, image blending, MX-GEO, and interfaces to both a moving map and slaved searchlight.

"The selection of L-3's MX technology for the H215 platform further strengthens our standing relationship with the Finnish Border Guard," L-3 Vice President Paul Jennison said. "This latest order illustrates how our high-magnification imaging technology has become a useful asset for the Border Guard and its time-critical surveillance missions."
