President Trump issued an executive order May 11 to strengthen cybersecurity and other related fields that are a foundation for achieving objectives in the cyber domain. According to the executive order, the United States' policy is to support the growth and sustainment of a skilled cybersecurity workforce.

To help fulfill the requirements of this order, the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education has released a request for information document asking for ideas and viewpoints on efforts to educate and train a cybersecurity workforce.

The report to be delivered to the president on Sept. 8 will reflect input from both the private and public sector gathered from responses to the RFI, input from a public workshop that will take place Aug. 2, and from past assessments and recommendations.

Questions asked cover a wide range including having enough understanding and agreement with categories, most effective techniques and programs, and even how technological advances will factor into the cyber workforce.

The August workshop will be held by National Institute of Standards and Technology in Chicago, Illinois.
